The prostate gland lies just beneath the bladder and is normally about the size of a chestnut. The urethra (water pipe) runs through the middle of the prostate. The main function of the prostate is during your reproductive life. It produces fluid containing chemicals which nourish sperms to help with fertilisation.
Practice Closure Announcement
After many years of dedicated service, Herts & Essex Urology is now closing. We will no longer be taking on new patients in either the NHS or private sector.
Guidance for NHS Patients
If you were seen under the NHS, please contact your GP if you require any further assistance or referral for urological care. Your GP will be able to help with advice and onward referrals as needed.
Guidance for Private Patients
Private patients - whether insured or self-funded - should contact the hospital where you received care for ongoing assistance. The hospital holds your electronic medical records and will be able to arrange appointments with one of the practicing Urological Surgeons. Please reach out directly to Rivers Hospital, Oakdin Clinic, or Nuffield Brentwood for access to your records or further care. Requests for copies of records can be made verbally, in writing, or by email, and hospitals typically fulfil requests within one month.
Medical Records and Additional Support
If you need further assistance with your medical records or have any questions regarding your care, please email info@hertsandessexurology.co.uk. We will do our utmost to support you through this transition.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff and management at Rivers Hospital, Oakdin Clinic, and Nuffield Brentwood for their unwavering partnership and support.
